The Call

What We Found
A copper supply line in an unheated crawl space of a 1958 ranch had frozen, expanded, and split along a two inch seam. No insulation, and an exterior vent nearby.

Instead of fighting the valve, we pulled the water off at the meter pit and stopped the flow in under twenty minutes.
We cut out the split section, replaced and insulated the run, then fixed the underlying issue by installing a new quarter turn ball valve at the main. Every stage was photographed.
The Outcome
The basement needed only minor drywall repair at the baseboard instead of the full tear out that a few more hours of water would have caused.
The photo documented invoice went to her insurance carrier without a dispute. Two winters later, the run has held.
